Aviyan Hydropower Pvt. Ltd. Proposes Boundary Extension for Lower Badigad Hydroelectric Project.
Kathmandu, December 11, 2024 – Aviyan Hydropower Private Limited, the developer of the Lower Badigad Hydroelectric Project (18.73 MW, Run-of-River), held a key meeting at the Department of Electricity Development (DoED) today to propose an extension of the project’s boundary.
The meeting, supported by Hydro Engineering and Management Service Pvt. Ltd., the project's consultant, showcased a detailed presentation comparing the existing boundary with the proposed extension. The presentation highlighted improvements in project efficiency and capacity due to the boundary extension, including the utilization of an additional 7-meter gross head. This enhancement is expected to increase the project’s installed capacity from 15.5 MW (within the current boundary) to approximately 16.69 MW.
Aviyan Hydropower’s team emphasized the environmental and technical feasibility of the proposal, outlining data from hydrological studies, geological mapping, and topographical surveys. The proposal also ensures no adverse impact on neighboring hydropower projects, including Liberty Energy Company’s upstream development.
With the DoED’s approval, the project aims to maximize energy output while aligning with Nepal’s increasing demand for clean and sustainable energy.
